A ONE-PIECE STATEMENT

‘Statement Jewellery’ is an industry term for pieces that make an impact. A statement piece should be noticeable, the focal point of an outfit and unforgettable. In short  it is the epitome of what the most fashion conscious and glamorous women around the globe strive for.

Though you might assume that statement jewellery has always been fashionable, coordinated jewellery sets have often been sold by jewellers as the best way to make an impact at a special occasion.

The trend is shifting in the industry as more and more jewellers are pitching statement pieces as the best way to make an impact. Whether it’s a chunky necklace, a pair of bold earrings, a larger-than-life cocktail ring or a wide cuff, the focus now is on a dramatic piece that stun without the need for other accessories.

TIPS FOR PULLING OFF THE STATEMENT PIECE

Either wear matching colours or contrast the colour entirely. For example a white diamond pendant with a white dress or white diamond pendant with a black dress. Simplicity is key. Bold colours are fine but  mutlicoloured clothing should be avoided for maximum impact when choosing evening wear to accompany a piece. While large, dangling chandelier earrings have been consistently in trend for a while now the focus is entirely below the wrist.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

For neckpieces, the options are endless from a big, floral chokers, large, prominent pendants , or if you really have the budget,  multi-strand pieces. Around the wrist and hand the new must-haves are the over-sized cocktail ring or the large cuff. You can wear accessories but these keep these very simple and to a minimum, small diamond studs for instance.
